Technical Information

Time resolved fluorescent (TRF) technology is emerging as an important tool in drug discovery and diagnostics.  Based on our novel chelation and nanocolloid technology, BioPAL has developed a line of TRF reagents for research application.

RadiantDOTS™ are nanosized colloids consisting of a lanthanide crystal wrapped within a polystryrene coating that can be modified for specific applications, such as labeling with ligands and macromolecules.  As their name suggests, RadiantDOTS are intrinsically fluorescent.

RadiantDOTS are available having a diameter of 35 nm.  Other sizes are under development.  Given BioPAL's novel chemical synthesis, these colloids do not aggregate and, therefore, are suspended in a detergent-FREE aqueous solution.  BioPAL currently offers europium-labeled RadiantDOTS, which have a long-wavelength emission (~615 nm) that is well separated from the excitation peak (~340 nm).  Other lanthanide labels, such as terbium, are under development and will be available soon.

The Product
All of the RadiantDOTS Product-lines are packaged in 2 ml sealed serum bottles (0.5% solids).  NOT FOR HUMAN USE.

1. RadiantDOTS Europium - CML:  BioPAL offers carboxylate-modified latex (CML) colloids that have carboxyl groups at the surface.

3. COMING SOON!  RadiantDOTS Europium - Streptavidin:  Streptavidin is covalently attach to the surface of these colloids, which are ready to use.  These can be used in a wide range of diagnostic applications, such as enzyme immunoassays.
