BioPAL has developed PROTrack to enable researchers to locate, track, and quantify proteins of interest in in vivo systems. PROTrack is a line of protein labeling kits and is designed to take advantage of BioPAL's neutron activation technology. The kits are available in different isotopic markers, providing researchers with the ability to track the same protein under different conditions in the same model system or track multiple proteins, simultaneously. The kits are stable and nonradioactive.
In addition, BioPAL can perform the labeling process for the customer.
Interested researchers are encouraged to contact BioPAL to discuss the
feasibility of the project.
In addition to neutron activation tracking technology, BioPAL has also
developed protein labeling kits for
time-resolved fluorescent technology
(TRF) and by
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
The Advantages
Non-radioactive: All of BioPAL's products are stable and non-radioactive. As a result, this product is not a radiological toxin to the protein being labeled and the user will not require special licensing to use these products.
High Sensitivity: Depending on the labeling efficiency which is dependent on many factors, PROTrack offers high sensitivity via neutron activation technology.
Quantitative Measurement: Unlike many fluorescent-based labeling methods for in vivo applications, PROTrack provides a quantified measure directly from intact tissue, urine, blood, and/or fecal samples. No extraction! No sample loss!
Experimental Flexibility: By using different labels, PROTrack can be using in combination with other BioPAL products, such as our microspheres, to provide greater experimental design flexibility.
The Product
- Standard Protein Labeling Kits
Each kit contains the bifunctional chelate, lanthanide salt, required buffers and instructions. The kit is designed to label 10 to 100 mg of protein. The sensitivity of detection is a function of many factors, including labeling efficiency and sample matrix. (Patent Pending)

- Contaminant-Free, Sample Vials
BioPAL's polypropylene sample vials are cleaned to remove trace contamination and are calibrated for our activation and counting system. These vials must be used for the assay.

- Assay Service
BioPAL charges a per-sample assay fee for our neutron activation assay service. The results of the assay are reported as the total disintegrations per minute (dpm) measured in each sample for each corresponding isotopic label.
