Molday ION
Molday IONTM

Technical Information

Molday ION™ is an iron oxide-based super paramagnetic (USPIO) contrast reagent having a colloidal size of 30 nm.  This reagent is classified as a darkening agent acting through the T2 relaxation process.  As an intravascular contrast agent, Molday ION has a blood half-life of several hours and can be used in a wide range of cardiovascular and vascular research.  In addition, we also offer Molday ION (-) that has a negative charge colloidal surface.

Molday ION Amine, as its name implies, is engineered to have terminal amino groups with different length spacers.  They are designed for cell labeling and to allow for efficient labeling with ligands, peptides, proteins, and nucleic acids (RNAi, DNA, etc.).  As a result, new biological properties can be conferred to the reagent, such as targeting to a specific receptor site.  These reagents are also classified as a darkening agent acting through the T2 relaxation process.

Molday ION RP is a reverse phase colloidal magnetite MRI contrast agent engineered to have terminal hydrophobic groups with different spacer lengths (C6 to C12), thereby offering a range of lipophilicity.  These lipophilic (hydrophobic) MRI contrast agents are designed for use in organic solvents, mixed aqueous organic phases, and for labeling cells where a T2 weighted MRI contrast agent is desired.  They are designed for cell labeling and to allow for efficient labeling with ligands, peptides, proteins, and nucleic acids (RNAi, DNA, etc.).  Other applications for these MRI contrast agents include use in drug delivery and use as a duel purpose colloid that combines drug delivery with imaging applications.

Molday ION Rhodamine B is an iron oxide-based super paramagnetic contrast reagent having a colloidal size of 50 nm.  The colloidal particle is cross-linked and labeled with rhodamine B, which is a fluorescent dye.  As a result, this reagent can be visualized by both MRI and by fluorescence.  For MRI, this reagent is classified as a darkening agent acting through the T2 relaxation process.  For fluorescence, the rhodamine B label excitation wavelength is 555 nm and the emission is at 565-620 nm.  The reagent ideal for many cell labeling and tracking applications.
